It was so nice to have State Representative Jeff Roy come to visit Gilly’s House. Jeff was the real catalyst for the establishment of Gilly’s! Many of you may not know that Jeff is a tremendous historian and as such he has offered a unique behind the scenes tour of the Massachusetts State House as a silent auction item for Gilly’s House Summer Fest 2022. So exciting that Channel 4, a CBS affiliate, came to Gilly’s House yesterday to do a piece about us. It is my understanding that it will air on all the news segments on monday. Besides interviewing me, I am so grateful that Bobby, a Gilly’s House graduate, agreed to be interviewed and tell his story. I am also grateful that Andy, a current resident, also agreed to talk about recovery. The stigma only diminishes if we are willing to talk about it in public!! Thank you to those men. Thank you to Levan Reid, the reporter, who was so easy to talk to and wanted to share this story. Thank you so very close friends and board members of GH Joanne and Lenny Hensas for making this happen!!

So with one of my other hats…I helped with a few

So with one of my other hats…I helped with a few guys at Gilly’s deliver bi-monthly (twice a month) food packages from the Walpole Community Food Pantry to Wrentham Senior Housing and Wrentham Low Income housing. So nice that one woman at Senior Housing said, I know it’s you, Gilly’s House. Then at the second location, a woman gave us all cold bottles of water (it’s was 95 degrees out). Another woman who works in the recovery world made sure she connected with me. Give and get back!!

The National Night Out with Public Safety and Serv

The National Night Out with Public Safety and Service Groups, organized by the Foxboro Jaycees on the common in Foxboro was fantastic!! We got a little wet at the beginning, but lots of folks came out after. Gilly’s House had a table with all kinds of information and of course a raffle. We talked to so many people who had GREAT recovery stories. The best part for me was as I was loading my car up at the end of the event was running into Officer Michael Saulnier, Foxboro Police Department. Michael and his other 4 siblings grew up with my kids. They all hung out together, went to school together, played baseball together…Meeting up with Michael was like having a little piece of Steven (Gilly) back with me. Michael, can’t wait for your visit to Gilly’s. See you soon. 💕

What have you been doing on this glorious day? I had a fabulous opportunity this morning to have a private tractor tour of The Big Apple Farm here in Wrentham. Who knew it was soooo big (200 acres)? One of the Gilly’s House men has been working here for two years. He’s a natural farmer, he loves it there! He gave me a great tour. They grow everything. We are so lucky to have this gem in our backyard. Please support our local farmers. The Big Apple is open now. Every day there is something new on the shelves!!
